1841 1941 2041- Hong Kong: the future through the past

1841 1941 2041 is an exhibition showing Hong Kong from the past through an imaginative future. A Global Rallies for Hong Kong will be held in over 15 countries across the world on 12th June. As a response to this global event, NGO DEI presents a historical exhibition with a multi-media production, from the 180th anniversary of the opening of Hong Kong as a port (1841), to the 80th anniversary of the Hong Kong Defense War(1941), and to 2041, a near-future we hesitate in imagine. NGO DEI invited Hong Kong-born playwright Derek Chan based in Vancouver, to present his latest multi-media production “Yellow Objects”, about the Hong Kong protest movement, which tells “truth through subversive irreverence” Our program wishes to link people together and inherit Hong Kong’s culture and identity.
